This is a question I get asked all the time, so I thought I would write a blog about it! Most people ask me this and expect the answer to be no… however, to the contrary coaching works really well by phone, by skype and of course face to face.
I coach people far and wide and as such regularly use all of the methods I have mentioned above and they all work really well. Increasingly I am coaching more and more people by phone, clients love it and so do I, we plug in our head sets and for that session, that is our world, we are 100% focused, with no distractions. Something my clients also feedback to me is that if there is something they find difficult to say, that something which is really holding them back, that it is much easier having that bit of distance, not having to say it face to face. The same applies to skype, ok we can see each other, but it is not the same as saying it to someone in the same room, the distance and the fact that they are often in their home, in a safe environment means that they feel much more comfortable.
I love coaching in all forms, the personal interaction of face to face, the ease and accessibility of the phone and skype, it means that I can work with anyone anywhere and at a time and place which works for my client. I love the flexibility of this and so do they. I was working with someone the other day, who said during a session; that although we know each other and have a great rapport having met many times in person (although they live on the other side of the country) that they love the distance that using skype brings. Funny enough I even coach people locally via the phone and skype, mainly because it saves time for my clients, they don’t have to set aside travel time and the results are just the same.
I also offer a 30 minute introductory session for people who are interested in coaching, but want to try before they buy, which I wholeheartedly support, to me coaching is much better experienced than explained. I generally carry these out via skype or the phone, because it makes good business sense for both of me and the person investing 30 minutes of their valuable time, which for all they know could be a total waste of time, but equally it could just change their life!
So if you are looking at finding a coach to work with and they are not based locally to you, don’t let that put you off, have a chat with them and see if they use the methods that I do, this may open up and whole new world of opportunities for you. I would love to hear from you, get in touch if you have any questions.
