I have been a poorly girl!
So, I thought I would use that as inspiration for a blog! As you will know if you follow me, self-care and having a good #LIFEworkbalance is important to me, and for us all, and I do practice what I preach living my life in that way as much as possible. However, as we all know, sometimes we just get sick no matter how well we look after ourselves and this week was one of them.
Years ago, I would have still pushed myself to do as much as I could and just keep going, however I have learnt over time to listen more to my body.
This being one of my working weeks, I had lots planned, including writing this email, recording a podcast, planning, having important meetings and of course seeing my amazing clients which I love to do, it brings me so much joy to see them achieving their goals and blossoming right before my eyes.
I am also in a beautiful area of Vietnam and feel I ought to be out exploring, however, I have been poorly, and I know the best and quickest way to recover is to listen to my body and slow down. So, I did just that, I have slept and rested and apart from seeing my amazing clients and popping out for wonderful Vietnamese food and coffee, I have slowed right down.
And as a results, I am already feeling much better, I was able to honour my clients and be well enough to be fully present for them and I am well enough to write and post this blog, and some of the other admin type stuff and new podcast etc can wait for now…
The thing is, and the reason I am sharing this is that I know lots of us find it hard to listen to our bodies and to stop, because we may have lots of commitments and responsibilities, along with the fact that in society, overworking and pushing through is glorified, despite us knowing it is not the best thing for us to do for our health and for a speedy recovery.
I am curious, how does this land with you? Does it sound familiar? I would love to know your thoughts about how maybe you can make different choices for you going forwards? I know changing behaviour can feel hard, yet it is also possible! And in fact if you really want to make changes and find it hard, maybe I can help, and if not me, then someone, you don’t have to do it alone.
If any of this resonated with you, and you want to know more, I have a free weekly email which you can subscribe to, you can follow me on social media, or when you feel ready, you could drop me an email or you could book a free discovery call via my website I am seeing new clients again from January 2025, dates to be made available soon!
Until next time,
Keep smiling,
Emma
